Merrill Yesslith is an enrolled member of the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone tribe. He is a third year law student at the Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark School of Law. During law school, Merrill served as President of the Native American Law Students Association, Historian of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, and Lead Editor of the BYU Journal of Public Law. Merrill has clerked for the Tsosie & Hatch law firm in West Jordan, Utah, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office in Salt Lake City, and the Native American Rights Fund (”NARF”) in Boulder, Colorado. Merrill also did legal research on the Navajo statutes and case law for the Honorable Robert Yazzie, Chief Justice emeritus of the Navajo Supreme Court. Merrill plans on practicing Indian law after graduating from law school. Merrill is married to the former Misty Crawford and has two children, Christian and Samantha.
